Erthwurld film pilot update

ERTHWURLD The Crystal Pool - film pilot update - the sculpt models have now been created by Zeke Ares
Mr Sand sculpt
Film director, Zeke Ares, has sent an update regarding ERTHWURLD The Crystal Pool, the new stop motion animation film pilot project based on the first Kernowland in Erthwurld story, which I mentioned in a recent blog. Zeke shared part of the process of creating this sort of film with me and I've included some of this below...

To create the characters, drawings are first prepared, like the one below for Mr Sand (click images to enlarge).
Then a model called a 'sculpt' is made from the drawing.
The following images show more drawings and sculpts of Mr Sand, as well as Tizzie and Louis, the two children in the Kernowland in Erthwurld story on which the film is based.

After the drawings and sculpts have been created, latex puppets are made from the designs. Zeke informs me that the finished puppets will have adjustable hair and eyes!

I'll post more about the ERTHWURLD film project on the Blog as soon as there is some news to report.

Who or what is in Echo Cave

Who or what is in Echo Cave with the children?

Thank you to the teachers and children who sent me the pictures in this blog article. They show fantastic imagination! Very good drawing and colouring too. Unfortunately I don't know which school sent them. If you do, could you let me know on the following email address ... jack@kernowland.com ... and I'll change the blog to say the name of your school.
The first two chapters of Kernowland 1 The Crystal Pool can be read by clicking here. After you've read the two chapters, you could try drawing the 'someone or something' that might be in the cave with Tizzie and Louis - like these children below have done...

Thanks again to all the children who drew the pictures and the teacher who sent them to me.

Letter from Charlotte

Letter from Charlotte Ashton - Kernowland in Erthwurld reader - Year 7 - Glenthorne High School

Thank you for your letter, Charlotte. I'm really pleased that you are enjoying the stories.
I have been asked quite a few times whether the Kernowland in Erthwurld books are just for children of the age of Tizzie and Louis in the story - primary school children - or are they for older children as well?

Lots of authors and publishers have said that it is often hard to say what age child a book is for but we do understand that children, parents, grandparents, and teachers, do like to have some idea.

Well, although my story starts with Tizzie, aged nearly eleven, and Louis, aged seven-and-three-quarters, later on they meet lots of older characters, such as Jack, aged 13, Masai (15), Hans (17) and so on. And, of course, there are lots of adult characters so I think it really depends on whether you like adventure stories in general, and this one in particular, rather than how old you are.

In answer to your question about more books, yes I am writing a new series. It is called Thirteen Things and is based on 13 real objects. Because the stories are inspired by objects, events, and characters from history, I think these books might also be read by all ages, including adults, but we'll have to wait and see!

Thank you very much again for writing to me, Charlotte.
